Position Title: Computer Support Technician

Naval Construction Group TWO (NCG2) provides Maintenance and Material Management (3M) Technician Maintenance and User Operational Support Services to units under the NCG2 Commander. This includes Command Communications Computers and Intelligence (C4I) Maintenance Technicians to support the systems and supporting equipment.

The Computer Support Technician performs technician maintenance and user operational work as a 3M maintenance technician for systems such as the NECC Enterprise Tactical Command and Control Local Area Network Suite (NETC2), Rapid response Kit (RRK), Expeditionary Data Network (EDN) and Tactical Data Network (TDN). This includes scanning, patching, updating, and documenting scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks. Technicians also provide training and assistance to technician and or communications students in a formal training environment.

Security Clearance Level: Secret or Interim Secret

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform necessary 3M, system patching, and scanning for NECC Enterprise Tactical Command and Control Local Area Network Suite (NETC2), Rapid response Kit (RRK), Expeditionary Data Network (EDN) and Tactical Data Network (TDN)
• Perform necessary maintenance for NETC2, RRK and EDN maintenance Event Logs.
• Perform necessary maintenance for Host Based Security System (HBSS) #1 McAfee check and review updates.
• Perform necessary maintenance for VMware ESXi, VMware Data Recovery Module, Window Services, Control Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), EDN MAIL/ESG/OWA Procedures.
• Perform necessary maintenance for NETC2, RRK and EDN clean up procedures.
• Perform maintenance test on HAWKEYE III Lite Satellite antenna and HAWKEYE III Lite Satellite Auto -Acquire Limits.
• Perform inspection of system processing and communications components, cables, connections, and transit cases.
• Coordinate updates and maintenance of described systems to include pulling NETC2/RRK/EDN/TDN out of operational deployment cycles for required maintenance and upgrade to ensure full operational capabilities.
• Perform necessary Maintenance Release (MR) and Hot Fix for described systems.
• Ensure that all maintenance is completed and documented and CASREPS are submitted when required.
• Ensure materials, procedures, policies are always coordinated and suitable for periods of instructions whether indoor or outdoor classroom environment and ensure users are knowledgeable of potential dangers from equipment and field hazards.
• Train and assist other information technician and or communications students in a professional manner.
• Assist in the development of new or revised training or testing materials for formal course use in support of data network systems.

Knowledge and Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or General Education Equivalent.
• Four (4) years of experience in 3M workstation and user operator experience/expertise for Tactical Data Networks (TDN), Enterprise Tactical Command and Control Local Area Network Suite (NETC2), Rapid Response Key (RRK) and or Expeditionary Deployable Node (EDN).
• Technical Writer/Operator expertise in tactical data network systems.
• Four (4) years of experience in understanding Technical Manuals, Communication Information System Manuals, Tactical Communication Manuals, and directives or instructions and procedures.
• Two (2) years of knowledge and experience in the capabilities and functionalities of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Two (2) years in working knowledge of basic computer networking skills to include, but not limited to, hardware (switch, router, blade server, net app, fire walls) and software (Windows 10, Virtue Machines (VM) Ware, MS Shareware server, MS Server 2012, MS Scanner, MS Exchange Server 2016 (emails)).
• A valid up to date Cyber Security Work Force (CSWF) Security Certification or have equivalent qualifications (Equivalent NEC/Rate, Information System Maintenance Technician (731A), Information System Security.
• Manager (741A), Network Security Vulnerability Technician (742A).
• Two (2) years of Information Maintenance Security and Information Network Systems experience.
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification eligibility and Continuing Education Unit (CEU) requirements.
• Ability to perform duties in inclement weather during field exercise training.
• Must be able to lift 35 pounds.
• Expect prolonged periods of standing, bending, and moving.
• U.S. Navy Veteran, preferred.
